Google Targets Content Farms With Major Search Algorithm Tweaks

Here's an article that discusses exactly what we were talking about the other day. Google just announced it made "major" changes to its search algorithm which are aimed at reducing the amount of content farms and spam that result from people exploiting the Google algorithm. So, how do we measure value now, Google?

  1. It is interesting to me how Google is firmly in the position of control and in a way these types of sites are the result of attempts to hack the system of power. Whenever Google changes their algorithm, there will just be new attempts to figure out how to 'game' the system. While most of these attempts are purely driven by capital, it would be interesting if a social issue group adopted the practice to challenge the dominant results for a search term. For example, could a organization promoting peer to peer sharing label their terms and include buzz words to be the first site to appear when someone searches for RIAA or MPAA?
